Nokia X6 joins the league of wider display with a Notch and thin bezels

Following rumors, HMD Global has launched a new Nokia X6 with a cutout display on top. The phone is currently available in China as it revealed itself on the regional Nokia website.

You might be wondering about the name as it’s the same name Nokia previously has used with its Symbian powered device. Yes it is but now it comes with a whole new set of elements where only the name is borrowed.

Nokia X6 features all those trendy elements such as wider display that is 19:6 aspect ratio on a 5.8-inch screen. The thinner bezels and the notch (or a cutout) on the top of the display, more similar in size with recently launched Vivo V9, OPPO F7 or Huawei P20.

The Nokia X6 has a metal frame and curved glass on the back. There’s a dual-camera setup – primary 16MP image sensor with autofocus and f/2.0 lens aperture. and a secondary 5MP monochrome sensor also with an f/2.0 lens aperture. There is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well.

The phone with minimalist bezels under Nokia brand name is powered with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platform. The chipset reflects the class of the phone as a mid-range, however it is coupled with 4GB of RAM where a 6GB RAM option is also available. Likewise the internal storage options vary between 32GB and 64GB. Note that the 6GB RAM model only comes with 64GB internal storage, while the 4GB RAM model will be available in both 32 or 64GB storage options.

In addition the phone also supports expandable memory up to 256GB via microSD card. Nokia X6 also has the USB Type-C connectivity and comes with a 3060 mAh battery capacity. Also welcome the headphone jack as it’s still present with the phone.

The phone runs Android Oreo operating system but you can expect it to be certified as Android One smartphone just like other recent releases from HMD Global if released in other regions outside of China.

HMD has labeled its camera with “AI Camera” which hints that the camera probably will have AI features. In addition to rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, the phone also uses front camera for face unlocking.

Pricing and Availability

Available in Black, Blue and White colors, Nokia X6 is available in China only. HMD currently has no plans to launch the phone in other regions but plans may change in future. However Juho Sarvikas, CPO at HMD Global has shared in a tweet that he thinks the Nokia X6 may be released in other countries as well. So you can keep your fingers crossed to see the phone’s availability in Pakistan.

  • 4GB+32GB model costs CNY 1299 (or ~USD 200)
  • 4GB+64GB model costs CNY 1499 (or ~USD 235)
