Nokia 1 Plus could be the most affordable Android phone from MWC 2019

While the world’s top tech event MWC all set to kick off next month with almost all kind of smartphones and other things, company’s are popping up to be shown at the event. HMD is just one of them and its fan base is having a keen eye for the next flagship, Nokia 9. However it looks like the company is not bringing the lone phone at the event.

A very basic entry-level Nokia phone has also appeared in leaks. The phone, being considered to be the successor to last year’s Nokia 1, is dubbed as Nokia 1 Plus. So it’s well advised to be the most affordable Android phone from the company this year. Or may be the even cheapest phone out of Mobile World Congress 2019?

A simple and straightforward render has appeared in the leak with the visual of front side of the phone. The render explains pretty well with the “Nokia” branding on the top right corner. The now-old-school bezels are there on top and the bottom with now-ugly looking side bezels as you can see above.

The hardware is also what you would expect from such an entry-level phone. With a 1GB RAM, the phone is listed with a quad-core MediaTek’s MT6739 system-on-chip. Well it does support OpenGL 3.2 with the PowerVR GPU. With Android 9 Pie on-board, expect it to run Go edition of the software.

The spec-sheet doesn’t include any information about camera but the display resolution is 480×960 pixel with now-common 18:9 aspect ratio. While having no mention of the display size, the leaked spec-sheet suggests that the screen density is 213 DPI. So combining the resolution and the density, we can tell that the screen size would around 5-inches.

Who knows why, the company wanted to put a taller screen with those bigger bezels. To keep with the trending 18:9 aspect ratio? Well, that trendy feature also comes with smaller bezels if HMD could have noticed.

The Nokia 1 Plus is expected to cost around €100 in Europe and around $100 in other markets. That’s around PKR 14,000 in Pakistan as of today.
