Nokia 8.3 5G launched with Cinematic Camera – Price, Specifications and Availability

HMD Global has launched its first 5G smartphone under the Nokia branding – Nokia 8.3 5G. The company has told that this phone is the world’s first “global” 5G smartphone. The reason is that the phone supports almost all the 5G bands currently supported worldwide.

Nokia 8.3 5G is the first smartphone to use the Qualcomm 5G RF front-end module solution, which is a part of Qualcomm’s Modular Platform. The phone condenses more than 40 different RF components into a single module, making it not only a “global” device but also a future-proof smartphone which is ready for the next step in 5G.

The Nokia 8.3 5G is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G Mobile Platform. The phone comes in two memory configurations – 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage or 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. 4500 mAh battery comes with 18-watt fast charging and the connectivity support is via USB Type-C.

The phone is Android One certified and runs Android 10 out of the box, with 2 years of software upgrades and 3 years of monthly security updates. It boasts with 6.81-inch large IPS display (so-called PureDisplay) and full HD+ resolution. The aspect ratio is 20:9 and it’s a punch-hole display with a 24MP front-facing camera.

Apart from 5G connectivity, the major focus of the phone revolves around its camera. Introducing the ZEISS Cinema capture and editor, the phone features 21:9 video format. Also, the phone supports other realtime ZEISS cinematic effects such as anamorphic and blue flare.

The Nokia 8.3 5G features quad-camera setup consists of 64MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. The camera obviously gets the charms of ZEISS optics and supports Video HDR, 4K video recording at 30fps.

The ultra-wide-angle 12MP camera is fully capable of recording videos in low-light environments. The system also supports OZO audio as well as it comes with Action Cam mode.

Pricing and Availability

The Nokia 8.3 5G will be available in a single Polar Night colour option with the starting price of €599 in Europe, available in Summer. The phone is set to go on shelves in the Middle East from September for a global average price of $699 for the 8GB/128GB variant.
