False Advertising of Find X2 on OPPO’s website leads the company to offer refunds

In a goodwill gesture, the Chinese smartphone maker OPPO is offering refunds to customers who bought Find X2, due to incorrect or false information shared on the official product page.

OPPO recently launched its flagship smartphones, Find X2 and Find X2 Pro. The company had “mistakenly” shared incorrect information about the Find X2’s weight on its product page. This certain fact created a controversy online among customers who had easily take it as misleading information to customers.

Once the customers got their hands on their units, they felt the smartphone was heavier than what was listed on the product page. Some people tested before finding that actual weight was around 5-13 grams heavier than what had been advertised by the company.

Shen Yiren – the vice president of OPPO, had to issue a public apology and wanted customers to understand this minor error could always be there due to mixed material used from different vendors.

This is a truth that manufacturers usually use “starred” statements or figures on their product page to avoid any dispute. However, it’s just a minor error that the customers may have got over sensitive about.

Well, the company has already offered refunds to the customers who want to return their Find X2 devices in China. That’s the most the company can do for its customers. The offer stays valid till March 24, 2020.
