Vivo X70 series to launch on September 9 – X70 Pro+ ZEISS T* lens coating revealed

The Vivo X70 is the next flagship series from the Chinese smartphone maker. After staying quiet in the speculations, the official release date has been revealed on Vivo’s online store – see after the break.

Along with the launch date, some cool render images of the Vivo V70 Pro+ smartphone can also be seen. The renders mostly focused on the camera setup powered by ZEISS optics. Secondary, the faux leather design is also presented.

Considering the renders, the X70 Pro+ is supposed to feature a ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating. It reduces reflections from glass surfaces in contact with air. The purpose of this type of coating on ZEISS lenses is to prevent ghosting and unwanted flare. As a result, it also helps to produce extremely pleasant contrast photographs. Sony’s Xperia 1 II smartphone also featured this coating when launched in February 2020.

Focusing on the rear camera module reveals that four cameras will serve the need of using standard and ultra-wide angle photographs. A periscope lens will offer 125mm equivalent focal length which will give you around 5x optically zoomed photographs.

The ultra-wide-angle camera will offer a 14mm equivalent focal length. If the same unit is not offering macro capability, the fourth camera might offer it. Or it’s more likely a depth sensor for portrait shots.

Apart from camera revelation, the design of the phone is mostly orange faux leather. However, almost half the part on the upper side is occupied by the glass panel expanding from the camera module. There is nothing but the branding PRO+, VIVO | ZEISS Co-engineered.

Right now there is no other detail officially revealed. However, the reports suggest that the Vivo X70 Pro+ might feature a Snapdragon 888+ if it successes the previous X60 Pro+ which is powered by Snapdragon 888.
