Infinix INBook X2 laptop is a trimmed-down INBook X1 with new design

Infinix has launched the second instalment in its laptop category, the Infinix INBook X2. However, the new INBook X2 laptop seems to have been built with the remains of the INBook X1 Pro. Yes, I mean it because all the core components are identical to what we saw in the last year’s X1 Pro. In fact, some of the components are even downgraded.

The popular brand in making budget smartphones, Infinix, entered the Windows laptop market last year. With all those budget properties the INBook X1 series of laptops attracted an audience following the launch in Pakistan in September 2021. We have reviewed the top-tier INBook X1 Pro with Core i7 – we had a few observations if you haven’t checked it out.

Only within a year, the company has now launched its second series of laptops, the INBook X2. The availability of the new laptop is not confirmed in Pakistan, however, Indonesia, Thailand, and Egypt will be among the first markets where the INBook X2 will ship.

Though I liked the original INBook X1 series from the company, the new X2 series comes as a surprise to me. Normally, in the tech world, we see a successor with more upgrades than downgrades. But this INBook X2 is more like an X1 with slightly trimmed down features.

In the big-eye element, the INBook X2 comes with identical performance components as in X1. Also, the memory configurations are pretty much identical. The new X2 comes with the same 10th-Gen Intel Core processor, even with no change in clock rate. The top of the line Core i7 may have two memory configurations in X2, unlike a single config in X1.

Display properties are completely identical to INBook X1 as well as the webcam remains at HD resolution but with additional dual-flash light. There is no fingerprint sensor if we follow the product page but the backlit keyboard will be available in all variants. Unlike that, in X1, we had a fingerprint sensor and the backlit keyboard with the Core i7 variant only.

The surprise element is a little bad as the INBook X2 downgrades pretty badly at its backup time. The new X2 comes with a 50Wh battery unlike the 55Wh in X1. On the other hand, the provided USB-C power adapter is as fast as 45-watt. With INBook X1, we had a 65-watt power adapter.

In fact, at first look, the INBook X2 laptop looks visually identical to X1. But two noticeable differences are – a single wide hinge in X2 and the ports re-arranged in a different order. Note that the X2 weighs less than the X1.

The company also managed to figure the price factor in a similar manner of differences from its original X1 laptop. You must check out the top-tier $649 INBook X2 against the $725 INBook X1 Pro in the following side by side comparison.
