Along with the announcement of news Microsoft Windows 10 launching this summer, the disclosure of the partnership with Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi hints the customers to be able to test Windows 10 on their Xiaomi handsets.

Microsoft disclosed, as pointed by Tech Crunch, initially that the owners of Xiaomi Mi 4 can “flash” their phones with the new Windows 10 OS on their handsets while the availability will be announced later in coming months. Also the guys at Tech Crunch noted that the company has updated the post with more conciseness as  – a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year.

Through a new program with Xiaomi Inc., one of the top smartphone distributors in the world, a select group of Xiaomi Mi 4 power users will be invited to help test Windows 10 and contribute to its future release later this year. They will have the opportunity to download the Windows 10 Technical Preview, install it and provide their feedback to Microsoft.

The tech blog has not been successfully received information specific to this subject from either Microsoft or Xiaomi, however they are pointed it well as the company used the word “flash” which strictly indicates that it’s a ROM. Windows 10 is going to be a ROM much like CyanogenMod that can be flashed on the Android smartphone.

Related: Windows 10 is already set to launch this summer in 190 countries and 111 languages.

According to the story, the program seems to be specific to be in China with Xiaomi smartphones and there is no indication that it will expand Windows 10 OS to other Android smartphones as well as to other regions. Though, it has to take in mind the Microsoft has plans to release a wide range of versions of Windows 10 to operate on different devices.
