Google to bring Street View Detail of Punjab Pakistan on Google Maps

Google Inc. and Punjab Govt. have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring one of the most appreciated services till now which have been on the Google Maps. The MoU will allow Google to come up on the streets of Punjab with special cameras mounted on their cars to collect pictures for tourism promotion of heritage and cultural sites.

Note! that it’s the beginning and will only cover heritage and cultural sites for tourism. Other street level detail may come later.

A Street View taken from London on Google Maps

Well for now there is no street view detail for Pakistan region on Google Maps but the above screenshot of street view from London, UK can tell you exactly what will this initiative will bring for Punjab, Pakistan. 360-degrees view at street level on Google Maps helps in-car GPS navigation or mobile navigation systems more the way it always helped to the tourists and locals.

Official facebook fan page of Google Pakistan today announced the initiative Punjab Govt. has taken with the help of Google Inc. Officials from both sides signed an MoU to help Google authoritatively take pictures with the special cameras mounted on their cars on the streets.

Tourism secretary Dr. Allah Bakhsh Malik and William Fitzgerald of Google Asia signed the document. Including CM. Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, other officials and representatives of Google were also present.

Just for an interesting part, if you are in Punjab (we believe in Lahore) then in coming days you might see cars slowly moving on the roads and streets with strange racks and holders hanging cameras on the top of those cars. They will look like the one below.
