Last year in November, VimpelCom announced to merge with Global Telecom Holding (GTH), Warid Telecom Pakistan and Bank Alfalah (Dhabi Group shareholders). With this merger, the combined Mobilink and Warid entity has become the leading telecommunications provider of 2G, 3G and LTE services in Pakistan, providing higher quality national voice and data coverage, faster downloads, and a wider portfolio of products and services to people. Following the merger, the transition between the companies is in process and this development can be considered as part of it as well. Cross-reach of customers to data services from both the companies, Mobilink’s 3G and Warid’s 4G is yet to be transitioned officially, however there have been reports of Warid customers to avail 3G services soon.
