Hyperloop One will move passengers from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in 12 minutes

Hyperloop One to build the first hyperloop transportation by 2021 in UAE

Hyperloop One and the United Arab Emirates are looking in the future to build the fastest transportation system on the ground and announced it would build the first commercial hyperloop transportation system from Dubai to Abu Dhabi.

The journey between two mega cities is 99 miles (or 159.4 km) long that normally takes around two hours by car and over three hours by bus but according to Hyperloop One it would take only 12 minutes for the new hyperloop transportation system in the year 2021.

“Breaking news: @RTA_Dubai and Hyperloop One sign a deal to pursue a passenger and cargo network in the UAE” – tweeted Hyperloop One.

Hyperloop One has partnered with the Dubai RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) to evaluate the feasibility of the desired transportation system to be build between the two cities. Hyperloop One and BIG engineers, architects and designers have been working together for six months to produce an original system design for Hyperloop transportation.

With the official announcement of the collaboration with RTA, the company demoed the initial routes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Several Hyperports (likes of a station or airport) throughout Dubai were showcased as well as conceptual interiors and exteriors of the individual passenger pods were also showed off.

“With Hyperloop One we have given form to a mobility ecosystem of Hyperpods and Hyperloop One Portals, where the waiting hall has vanished, along with waiting itself,” says Bjarke Ingels, founder, BIG.

Hyperloop One has raised more than $160 million in less than two years and has built up a team of more than 200 experts, built a campus in Downtown Los Angeles. The company has also built a test and safety site in the Nevada desert with a 10000 square meter machine and tooling shop in North Las Vegas.
