Another Launch Event for Huawei Mate 9 in Pakistan
A week ago, Huawei Mate 9 was presented in a sneak peek event in Lahore where we gathered enough information about Huawei’s latest phablet and also did a quick review of Mate 9. But we know that Huawei is too aggressive in launching its flagship devices in Pakistan in various and multiple ways that left an official launch event for the device which has also just gone past the weekend.
“Meet the Mate” launch event was held in Lahore on December 9th where the Chinese phone maker has officially launched the device in the country. Keep in mind that the Mate 9 has already been made available in markets for PKR. 69,899/- (or ~$700) after going under pre-order phase for over a week or so.
A quick overview of the phone if you are not familiar yet is that Huawei Mate 9 is fully metal – well leaving the screen part, weighs 190 grams with only 7.5mm thickness. The new phablet has a 5.9″ IPS display with full HD 1080p resolution and a 2.5D curved glass on the screen. Just as the rumors suggested, the Mate 9 is powered by Kirin 960 SoC – the home built processor.
Huawei Kirin 960 chipset is setup with an octa-core processor configuration coupled with four cores of ARM Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.4GHz and four cores of Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8GHz. Huawei Mate 9 features the flagship GPU by ARM, Mali-G71 MP8. Mali-G71 is built on company’s Bifrost GPU architecture that is majorly marketed for high-end gaming and specially the mobile VR.
In addition the Mate 9 has 4GB of RAM along with 64GB of internal storage (UFS 2.1) which can be expanded via microSD card. There is no other option to choose from memory/storage however there are two variants of the Mate 9 – single SIM or dual SIM. Single SIM model will serve with a dedicated microSD card slot wherein dual SIM variant the second SIM slot will serve for the microSD card in place of a SIM.

The tech giant hosted a press conference and exclusive launch event in Lahore on 9th December to announce the official launch of this highly anticipated Mate 9 Smartphone.

The event was hosted by the seasoned screen veteran Wiqar Ali Khan and Sara Isis and was done in the spirit of the device it championed – Truly A Step Ahead. It was attended by all who’s who of the industry from the cinema to the small screen. Audience favorites stars like Javed Sheikh, Saleem Sheikh, Humaima Malick and Resham to celebrated faces from the fashion fraternity like Deepak Perwani, Maheen Kardar and Fahad Hussayn amongst others got together to celebrate this coveted device. Having experienced the Mate 9 first hand, all the guests had nothing but praises for this sophisticated machine. Some saw the usability of its supercharging battery while others were impressed by the second generation leica camera.
