500px launches Directory to help Photographers find work online

500px – the famous photography community and a major licensing platform for professional photographers, has launched a new service called “Directory”, to help professional photographers find work online. It’s kind a listing on 500px to advertise services with your work and get hired.

For quite a few months, the community has been used to direct its members to “enable services” to get listed into “directory” and later launched the service in beta mode last month. Today the community has launched the services publicly with around 50,000 photographers already listed from over 11,000 locations across 191 countries worldwide.

With the new Directory service enabled, photographers can connect to clients directly and set their own rates as for offline work. As the tool is specially designed to search photographers based on their area of specialties and the location of availability, clients can easily reach out to them. For example in Pakistan you can search for photographers in Lahore or Karachi, or any other city.

For photographers, the procedure to get started is easy with a straight forward signup form that 500px members finish in the three simple steps. Members will provide a few of their personal information, they will tell about their gear, equipment and specialties such as “Event”, “Aerial” or “Nature & Landscape” etc. and finally a short set of best photographs from their selected specialties.

Once signed up with “Directory”, the 500px members will see a new tab “Services” replacing the old “About” tab. The new “Services” tab will showcase all of the information and content which was provided during the signup process.

Well for now the service is free and all of the 500px members can sing up and try the Directory services until April when the community executors has plans to restrict the area for only paid members – 500px Plus or Awesome grade members. If you are a free 500px member, you can just jump in and try the services for over 60 days and see how does it work.

In addition to the launch of Directory service, 500px has also partnered with Adobe to expand the reach of its highly curated content over at Adobe Stock Premium Collection. 500px will source the licenseable content from the best photographers and agencies from the community to Adobe Stock Premium Collection where the millions of creative buyers can reach the content right from Adobe Creative Cloud.

This could be a tremendous relationship between the parties which definitely would help photographers sell their content among a huge community of interested buyers from outside the platform of 500px.
