Acer Predator 21 X – World’s First Laptop with Curved 21-inch Display Costs $9000

Predator 21 X will cost even more in Europe, Middle East and Asia.

Announced last year during IFA 2016 in August, Acer has now revealed the pricing and availability of the largest and heaviest laptop ever at CES 2017.

Weighing 19.4 pounds (~8.8 kg), the Predator 21 X sure is even heavier than most desktop PCs which is targeted really for those gamers who would go beyond anything to have wonderful gaming experience. But this thing is something anyone will need to take care very seriously.

The Predator 21 X is packed with 7th generation Intel Core i7-7820HK processor which is overclockable along side the dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics with SLI support. The machine is configured with 64 Gigs of RAM (DD4-2400MHz) and 512GB PCIe SSD in RAID 0 configuration with 1TB HDD (7200 RPM).

The 21-inch curved LCD on Predator 21 X serves with the resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels (21:9 aspect ratio) at 120MHz refresh rate. It’s quite wider display but resolution is not as impressive as it must be on a big display like that. “The curved screen also features NVIDIA G-SYNC technology, ensuring smooth and sharp gameplay.”

“The laptop also features an advanced cooling architecture consisting of 5 system fans (including 3 ultra-thin AeroBlade™ metal fans) and 9 heat pipes. It also includes Acer DustDefender, which removes dust build-up and improves heat dissipation, and Acer’s CoolBoost app, that can be used to adjust the fans’ airflow to deliver extra cooling performance during heavy use.”

The Predator 21 X features a 3-way audio design (tweeter, midrange, woofer) which produces Hi-Fi quality sound – Dolby Premium Audio, and is powered by 4 speakers (2 tweeters, 2 midrange) and 2 subwoofers. The machine supports Thunderbolt 3 with USB-C at speeds up to 40 Gbps.

Unimpressively,  this whole thing is only backed up by a 88 watt hour battery.

The Predator 21 X will be available in North America in February with prices starting at $8,999; and in EMEA in February with prices starting at €9,999.
