The company has now showed off the latest R-8 and R-9 smartglasses which are powered by the the recently launched Snapdragon 835 processor at CES 2017, in Las Vegas.

Interestingly this year, the R-8 will be sold for some price under $1,000, while the R-9 will be sold for approximately $1,800. Looking at the previous models, the company had higher price tags as R-7 smartglasses were sold for $2,750 and the R-6 smartglasses for $5,000.

R-8 offers the same private screen that floats in your view, wherever and however you are moving, with the added dimension of AR, VR and Mixed Reality overlays for a richer computing experience. R-8 weighs under 4 ounces and offers High Definition resolution in a large, greater than 40˚ field-of-view (FOV).

ODG R-9 Smartglasses

R-9 is based on ODG’s award-winning 50° field-of-view FOV and features Full HD 1080p resolution Project Horizon platform, and is already a winner in three CES 2017 Innovation Award categories. Targeted to a variety of Wider FOV experiences from light enterprise to prosumer media consumption, it is also a development platform for sophisticated mobile mixed reality and smartglasses applications.

Both R-8 and R-9 benefit from advanced features that come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, VR SDK, such as hardware accelerated, visual inertial odometry based 6DOF motion tracking. Both of the smartglasses will be available in second half of 2017.
