OPPO R11 and R11 Plus Officially Launched in China

OPPO R11 Gold and Black

Following the speculations and leaks, OPPO has officially launched OPPO R11 and the larger R11 Plus. Both as the successors to R9s an R9s Plus, are launched in China a bit earlier than announced for June 10.

Both, OPPO R11 and the larger sibling OPPO R11 Plus are the first devices to carry Snapdragon 660 chip which was announced just a month ago. People may like or dislike the fact that OPPO doesn’t go beyond its design strategy to clone an Apple iPhone.

The new R11 brotherhood follows the same design principle to give you a look of currently latest iPhone 7 Plus. Look at it from top-to-bottom, if there’s no “OPPO” branding on the back, you may call it an iPhone 7 Plus as first you see. Did you notice the little-humped dual-camera with a little LED flash on the back? you aren’t looking on an iPhone 7 Plus but it’s the OPPO R11.

OPPO R11 - iPhone 7 Plus Side by Side

Copying Apple might not be very good for many but what’s good for OPPO, is that it has taken the brand name at the 4th grade following by Apple, Samsung and Huawei. Sticking to OPPO R11, it seems good and solid with all fully metal body. The phone has three colors to choose from – gold, rose gold, or black. Dual-camera on the back is obvious while the fingerprint scanner is embedded on the front home button.

OPPO R11 and R11 Plus – Features

Just like the predecessor models, for the flagship R11 devices, OPPO still uses the the processor form a mid-range class of Qualcomm. Snapdragon 660 mobile platform was announced just last month but companies won’t use it with their flagship devices. However the recently launched Snapdragon 660 lies just below the high-end Snapdragon 835. So expect OPPO R11 to perform just around any high-end device.

OPPO R11 Stacked

Whereas both R11 and R11 Plus feature the same chipset, they differ at the memory. Former has 4GB of RAM while the latter features 6GB of RAM — that’s exactly like their predecessors. In fact both has 64GB of internal storage but features 5.5-inch display and 6-inch display respectively. Again both displays serve at full HD resolution of 1080p which makes the larger sibling less sharper.

What remains is the battery which, R11 equips with the 3000mAh battery while the R11 Plus has a 4000mAh battery capacity. OPPO R11 and R11 Plus will run Android 7.1 Nougat software with the proprietary Color OS 3.1 on top of it.

OPPO R11 and R11 Plus – Rear/Front Camera

Well, that’s the key part of any smartphone OPPO wants to tell you about. But these duo of the phones have same camera on the back and on the front. It’s a dual-camera configuration on the back which contains a 20 megapixels and a 16 megapixels cameras. However, 20MP camera features a Sony IMX350 image sensor and friends with an f/2.6 aperture telephoto lens. The 16MP camera has a Sony IMX398 image sensor underlying it and a wide open f/1.7 aperture (wide-angle) lens on top.

The setup supports 2x optical zoom with the telephoto lens – just like the setup in iPhone 7 Plus. It provides features like portrait mode – that helps taking shots with background blur (bokeh effect). The camera records up to 4K video footage.

But OPPO still has something up its sleeves that is the price of these devices. OPPO will announce the prices on the said date – which is tomorrow. However unofficial reports suggest that the 5.5-inch R11 might cost around $475. There is no word about when the R11 devices will be launched in other markets.
