iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Camera now top DxOMark Ranks

With the new smartphone camera results posted recently, DxOMark has pleased iPhone fans with the remarkable scores of the new iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8.

Both new iPhone devices seem to have leap improvement in their photography skills as recorded by the camera and lens testing company. Both have crossed the past top standing Google Pixel and HTC U11 by a huge margin.

Previously, grade 89 was the top score achieved by both the Pixel and HTC’s U11. With the new Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus available today, DxOMark has already released the the camera results of both the smartphones. The 8 Plus takes the top spot now with the grade 94 whereas the standard iPhone 8 takes the second spot with 92.

It’s exactly the similar situation as previously DxOMark released the results of Google Pixel right after its public launch. Likewise, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus just went on sale starting today, DxOMark published their camera results. Well, both are the cases when you might easily think that the camera testing company was already provided with the smartphone units ahead of its actual release by the smartphone makers. So you may think whatever from this this fact – I am not gonna spoil your moment. Just read on and see where how the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus stand in DxOMark’s list according to their new testing protocols.

The overall score is still the average score obtained from the still photos score and the video scores but have now some new factors to test. iPhone 8 Plus scores the whopping 96 in still photos and 89 in videos.

DxOMark has recorded some color cast in low light conditions and some indoor shots. Autofocus issues were also recorded in still photos. On the other side, video recording also had some troubles like exposure issues and visible noise in low-light conditions.

Taking the second spot, iPhone 8’s 92 points divides in 93 for still photos and 90 for video recording. Other way around, you can consider this on the top slot among devices with single-camera units. Apple has already told that rear camera of iPhone 8 is identical to the main wide-angle rear camera of iPhone 8 Plus. It only lacks the second telephoto unit, so minus the bokeh effect and the optical zoom, both should stand equal. But sure these two factors put the iPhone 8 Plus further a slot up.

Overall, the Apple iPhone 8 Plus is an excellent choice for the needs of nearly every smartphone photographer. It features outstanding image quality, zoom for those needing to get closer to their subjects, and an industry-leading Portrait mode for artistic efforts. It is at the top of our scoring charts in nearly every category — and in particular, its advanced software allows it to do an amazing job of capturing high-dynamic range scenes and images in which it can recognize faces.

DxOMark has also published the sample photographs, you must want to head to the source below to take a look on those shots for yourself. You will even fine more inner detail and explanation about the scores. You can either take a look at Apple’s official camera samples from iPhone 8 and 8 Plus – iPhone X as well.
