Huawei launched its new Y series a week ago made the Huawei Y7 Prime 2018 available in the Pakistan market. The phone indeed is a successor to its last year’s counterpart the Huawei Y7 Prime but along with some upgrades, the 2018 edition comes with some significant downgrades.
Y7 Prime 2018 is now available in the Pakistan along with some other markets. The phone costs only PKR 19,999/- which is the most attractive part of the phone as the predecessor did cost PKR. 25,000/- last year. So with a significantly down-price tag, you can expect the phone to come with some compromises. Unfortunately it’s the processor and the battery which you would never want less from a successor device. It comes with a Snapdragon 430 processor which was 435 in the predecessor and the 3000 mAh battery is 1000 mAh less than the last year’s Y7 Prime.
On the positive side, the phone comes with upgrades from today’s era. Most significant is the dual-camera and the FullView display. Though the resolution remains the same with some incremental horizontal pixels to entertain a full view display. It’s an HD+ 1440×720 pixels with 18:9 aspect ratio on a larger (than predecessor) display of 5.99-inch.

New Y7 Prime 2018 also comes with Android Oreo 8.0 out-of-the-box and EMUI 8.0 on top of it. The dual-camera on the rear has a setup of 13 megapixel sensor with standard wide-angle lens and a 2MP sensor for capturing depth to simulate bokeh effect. On the front, there’s an 8-megapixel camera for selfies but also features face unlock.
3000 mAh battery (instead of 4000 mAh in the original) raises some questions but you can expect it to perform good with latest and batter software. Check out the side by side features comparison of Huawei Y7 Prime 2018 and last year’s Y7 Prime.
