While the Chinese smartphone maker is just close to launch its next beast Huawei Mate 20, the company has revealed the most younger member of the family – Mate 20 Lite, in the UK.

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite carries all the major features of the Mate series including a big screen. The phone also keeps the quad-camera setup of last year’s Mate 10 Lite with dual-camera on the back another dual-cam config on the front. The Mate 20 Lite also features a big battery.

With a quick look, the Mate 20 lite gives an impression to be like the Mate 10 flagships of last year. It has a glass body and features 6.3-inch full HD+ display with notch. The phone has a slim profile of 7.6mm with thinner bezels.

The Mate 20 lite is powered by Huawei’s new mid-tier Kirin 710 processor. It packs with 4GB of RAM and a 64GB of internal storage which indeed is expandable via microSD card. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box with EMUI 8.2 software on top.

It’s worth mentioning here that the mid-range Kirin 710 system-on-chip doesn’t feature an NPU (neural processing unit), however, Huawei has brought in the most of its AI features from the last year’s Mate flagship. The include AI battery enhancements in addition to AI master camera that can recognise objects and scenes. It also brings Huawei’s 3D portrait lighting and 3D emoji features. Almost all of the significant Huawei camera features are present.

What’s not the same, is the camera hardware – it’s not a flagship camera. However in numbers, there’s a 20-megapixel f/1.8 primary unit, paired with a 2-megapixel depth-sensor on the back. While on the front, it has a 24MP + 2MP camera setup.

Mate 20 Lite features a UBS Type-C connectivity and it comes with 18W fast charging sporting a big 3750mAh battery. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack included, and Huawei’s HiSten audio tuning technology.

Pricing and Availability

The Huawei Mate 20 Lite will cost £379 (PKR ~60,000/-) and will arrive on Vodafone and at Carphone Warehouse from September 5. It will be available from EE in October. The smartphone will also be available to purchase from Tesco and Argos.
