It’s been only a couple of weeks, Mate 20 Pro has gone on shelves, users have started reporting strange display issues. Most of them reported to have a green tint over the edges of the screen.

The company’s latest flagship features AMOLED display, and the panels were sourced from two third parties – BOE and LG. According to reports, it seems that only some panel shipped by LG are prone to this display error. BOE’s displays were not reported to have any sort of issues.

People who reported about having the similar issues told that the dark backgrounds or the dark themes reveals the tint. Other also reported that the issue might be related to the glue, company has used to attach the displays, hence the problem was being reported with the #Gluegate hashtag earlier.

As the green tint appears on dark themes or in dark environments, many may also have ignored the issue unless they are using it in dark.

It’s worth noting here that such OLED display tint issues were also reported to appear in latest iPhone XS devices too. That’s not the only case as it’s been always reported with similar problems in issues. Companies have also responded positively to facilitate its customers.

With an initial statement, Huawei UK community – where most of the users complained about the issue, forum manager seemed reluctant in accepting the problem with advising a simple workaround.

The Mate 20 Pro uses an industry-leading flexible OLED screen featuring special design curved edges for an enhanced visual experience and holding comfort. This may lead to slight discolouration when viewed from different angles.

In extremely dim lighting conditions, when the screen brightness is too low, or when using dark wallpapers, these differences can be exaggerated. If the colour cast affects your normal use, take your phone to an authorized Customer service Center for assistance.

Huawei Global showed the real responsibility sooner than later saying that it’s not an official statement from Huawei. So the users facing the issue may hear an official statement, expect it to be in your favour. Because Huawei Finland has offered a replacement of the devices which may have the faulty displays.

We are investigating for a long time why a small part of phones have been green in some countries. In Finland, consumers get a new phone without charge if they have a faulty display.

It’s always best for the company to have no problematic issues right after the product availability to consumers as it indeed affects the sales. But finding the problem at its earliest also turns out to be helpful in resolving the issue.

If LG’s display panels were the real culprits with some Mate 20 Pro’s screens, expect Huawei to replace the devices quickly and recheck their batch products before sale. Show your consumers that you are aware of the problem and you will help them fixing it reliably by replacing the units. Yes, replacement is necessary as this kind of issues in new phones are the only options for customer satisfaction.
