HMD Global started rolling out Android 9 Pie to its Nokia devices recently, but it seems slow unlike before. Some Nokia users have shown reservations about the delayed availability of the software update. Among them were the users owning last year’s Nokia 8.
Just for the information, the Nokia 8 was the flagship phone among the very first Nokia Android phones. Hence the users seemed to be most unsatisfied as as the updates on Nokia 8 are mostly later than many other Nokia devices. HMD has already promised in October to roll out Pie to the devices launched last year including Nokia 8 as well as Nokia 3, 5, Nokia 6.
Reportedly Android Pie should have rolled out to Nokia 8 by the end of November. Later but finally the Nokia 8 users have just got confirmed by Juho Sarvikas to have Android Pie soon.
Juho stated that they have been “burning the midnight oil to get your Nokia 8 on Android Pie” but for some unfortunate issues it’s getting delayed.
We have been burning the midnight oil to get your Nokia 8 on Android Pie. Unfortunately we still have few issues to address and need a couple of more days to make it perfect. Thank you for your patience 🙏

Previously internal beta release was appeared online and a Nokia 8 is already running a similar build of Android 9 Pie. You can watch that in the video below.
Additionally we have also seen Nokia 8 running Pie with a benchmark test by Geekbench. The listing mentions that 4GB model of Nokia 8 is running Android 9 operating system. It’s quite possible that the company is running the benchmark tests prior to the public release.
