Huawei Mate 30 Pro to come with five-camera setup, suggests new case patent

Huawei Mate 20

We have seen the year 2018 went with triple-camera setup on mobile phones and the smartphone makers so much into improving camera and photography skills in their smartphones. Now it looks like the same will continue in the year 2019 and you might see more camera lenses equipped on the upcoming smartphones.

Huawei released its latest flagship Mate 20 Pro only a couple of months ago. While the next flagship phone from the company is to be from the P-series which could be P30 or P30 Pro, the speculations have started about a phone which is not supposed to release until October 2019 – that’s Huawei Mate 30 Pro.

A new case has been appeared on web which is reportedly patented by Huawei in China and sports a taller window for the camera module than we have seen with Mate 20 Pro. We may also refer this case to support Huawei’s next P-series smartphone, however a key point is used to make you believe that it’s for the Mate-series instead.

That key point is mere a camera positioning, Huawei has used for the two series. If you put is simple, the P-series usually come with the camera positioned at the corner of its back, while the Mate-series always hosted the camera module in the upper center portion of its back.

So it would be wise to suggest that the case is intended for Huawei’s next Mate-series smartphone, whether it’s Mate 30 Pro or anything else.

Including more cameras/lenses of different kind actually has shown its ability to improve smartphone photography. It also helped preventing the use of bulky and larger sensors in the phone to keep it slim. Unlike previously we saw Nokia introducing the phones like Lumia 1020 and 808 PureView with physically larger sensors.

That made the phone, or at least the camera modules on those phones, bulky. Even though those mobile cameras were brilliant optically, the software and the thickness of those phones was less welcomed.

So other OEMs stayed away from using the larger sensors and started the other approach, that is same tiny sensors but multiple of them to do different jobs as effectively as possible. We then saw a most stunning example with Huawei P20 Pro. Rumors also suggest that next Nokia flagship, supposedly Nokia 9 PureView, may carry a penta-lens camera which you might see even earlier than Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro.
