Samsung introduces notchless Galaxy A80 with rotating triple-camera

Galaxy A80

Samsung has just announced its first notchless Galaxy A80 smartphone that features a slide and rotate camera module. That’s a main triple-camera system which will also work as your selfie camera after sliding up and then rotating to front.

The Korean smartphone maker has named its first notchless screen as a “New Infinity” display. So it adds up to the company’s previous array of notched-displays – “Infinity-U”, “Infinity-V”, and the punch-hold display “Infinity-O”. It’s worth noting that company had already introduced the name later last year.

So actually the sliding camera system results in a real full view display like the one in Vivo V15 and Vivo V15 Pro. That means there’s no notch or a punch-hole in the new Galaxy A80’s screen. The screen itself is as large as 6.7-inch but the resolution maxes out at full HD+ (1080 x 2400) on a Super AMOLED display.

The sliding part is just like many we have seen already for years, however the rotating part is more like the one we saw once in OPPO N1 and OPPO N3.  However the Vivo’s V15 series phones had a dedicated pop-up selfie camera in addition to a separate triple-camera system on the back. So we can safely say that the camera module in Galaxy A80 is the first of its kind with both sliding and rotating mechanism.

Galaxy A80 features

If we count on features, the new Galaxy A80’s pop-up and rotate camera module houses a triple-camera setup where the main 48-megapixel f/2.0 camera is paired with an Ultra wide-angle 8-megapixel f/2.2 camera. The third one is the ToF (time-of-flight) sensor for better portrait and bokeh shots.

Cameras apart, the Galaxy A80 comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with no expandable memory. The phone features a 3700 mAh battery with 25W fast-charging and comes with an Octa-core chipset without the specification of any named processor. However it’s widely believed that the phone may feature the Snapdragon 730. The phone features an on-screen fingerprint sensor.
