Vivo Y90 Unboxing [Video] – The Cheapest Smartphone from Vivo

Vivo is one of the companies which actively introduce new smartphones in Pakistan in various price segments. The company currently does not offer any high-end smartphone in the country, as there are only two series available. V-series, covering upper mid-range including V15 and V15 Pro. The Y-series covers a wide range of devices from entry-level to mid-range. May be that’s why the company has introduced another S-series to divide the price segments.

Here we are talking about the latest addition in the Y-series – Vivo Y90. It may cost from 16 to 17,000 rupees  as the company has not revealed the price officially, we’ll update the about the price as soon as it’s announced. But this phone is for sure the cheapest from the company right now.

Vivo Y90 comes with only 2GB of RAM which is the lowest memory option in current Android smartphones. Not counting the crap ones which may still have lower than that.  For this price, you won’t get any better. You know that right?

The box however shows some major elements including the 6.22-inch display which is company’s so-called Halo display. It’s a 720p HD resolution only on that large screen. The first good thing that I read from the box is the large 4030mAh battery.

But as expected, with that large battery, you don’t get a fast charger. The phone comes with 1-ampere charger only that may take longer than usual to fill up 4030 mAh capacity.

You get a microUSB cable and a transparent silicone back cover but no earphones. Good luck with buying it in separate if you don’t have ones already.

The phone has a large 6.22-inch screen but only serves with HD 720p display resolution. It’s company’s Halo display that has a dew-drop notch on top.

It’s simply an IPS display but a thinner bezels are indeed welcome. Bottom chin is present though which is usually seen in most of the phones.

The notch hosts a 5-megapixel selfie camera inside. There is a couple of sensors along and an earpiece in-between the screen and body. Volume rocker and power button are on the right side as always.

On the bottom you get everything including 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB port, a mono speaker and a mouthpiece.

The SIM slot is on the left side and it’s a fully dedicated dual-SIM and a microSD card slot. Means you can use all of them at once. That’s a good thing, right?

The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with company’s proprietary Funtouch OS 4.5 on top. The interface is just similar as we usually have with Vivo smartphones. That notification panel from top and a control center from bottom.

The phone doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor, but you can use the face access feature to unlock screen. It’s not a big deal as for the price, you get no more than that. Thanks that the software still offers the face unlocking feature. Somehow Vivo is still holding on with this feature from a few of its devices, including Vivo V15. So better have this at this at least.

Initial impressions about this phone are not quite amazing. But one shouldn’t even consider about that if you get a phone for such a price. Still if this phone stays below Rs. 17,000/- it’s not bad, if not that better than many.
