Vivo S1 4GB RAM variant available for pre-booking in Pakistan with a Huge Price-Cut

Vivo S1 Official Launch Pakistan

Vivo has not yet released any of its flagship smartphone in Pakistan, however, the company has been active with its entry-level and mid-range devices. Vivo launched its new S-series with Vivo S1 in Pakistan in July, 2019. Now the company has brought a trimmed-down variant of Vivo S1 for more customers.

The new variant of Vivo S1 comes with 4GB of RAM, in addition to the existing 6GB of RAM model. The new variant keeps its major feature of in-display fingerprint sensor, which is a plus-factor.

The most appealing factor is that the company is offering this new variant with 28% of price-cut. This is really a surprise factor that only a 2GB lower RAM will bring the price from Rs. 50,000 (for 6GB RAM variant) to Rs. 36,000 (for 4GB RAM variant). Yes! Only RAM, because all other features are identical.

Why only a minor RAM difference with huge Price-Cut?

While it looks like a big price-cut, it’s really not. The Vivo S1 was already launched for a big price tag in Pakistan. The 4GB RAM variant was available in India with 128GB storage for equivalent of PKR ~40,000. On the other hand, in Pakistan, customers paid an additional 10,000 for a bit larger 6GB of RAM.

The 6GB variant was not yet available in India though, it’s was announced however to ship with 64GB internal storage for a price tag of equivalent PKR ~42,000. That’s pretty much justifiable — a difference PKR 2,000 for 4GB or 6GB RAM variants.

Now if you consider the new 4GB RAM variant in Pakistan, it’s priced even less than what it was available for in India. You are now paying PKR 4,000 less than what it costs in India.

I am still wondering what Vivo guys in Pakistan are doing and how are they planning the price-model in the country. I am still trying to find other differences in two variants, which I couldn’t find. Not sure if there are some hidden changes in the hardware — vendor/suppliers etc, which is very unlikely.

However special credits, of course, go to the challenging Pakistani rupee value, which always do its best to challenge the smartphone brands in Pakistan, as well as the customers. In either case, it’s a nice bet for Vivo, as they may have collected a lot of revenue with its existing Vivo S1 variant and are now willingly compensating its customers with the new variant.

What do you think about the new Vivo S1 4GB variant and its price? Do you think it’s good option to go for, instead of paying PKR 14,000 extra only for 6GB of RAM? Do tell us in the comments below.
