Dimensity 1000L outperforms Snapdragon 765G as Reno3 beats the expensive Reno3 Pro

MediaTek Dimensity 1000L

OPPO has just announced its Reno3 and Reno3 Pro smartphones in China. The Reno3 is the starter variant whereas the Reno3 Pro is an expensive one among the two. The recent AnTuTu scores have revealed that the starter model is better in performance with the expensive one.

The Reno3 was the first smartphone to introduce the Dimensity 1000L system-on-chip. MediaTek has already claimed a lot about its flagship chipset and this news has just become the first evidence of the company’s claims.

A user shared the AnTuTu benchmark scores for Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro on the Chinese microblogging community. According to the scores, Reno3 performed over 5% better than Reno3 Pro. If we read further, the Dimensity 1000L’s CPU performed 23.9%  better and GPU 5.6% better. However, the Snapdragon could take a lead in memory with 0.42% and UX with 28% more scores.

AnTuTu Scores Breakdown

Reno3 Reno3 Pro
Overall 337,669 320,822
CPU 126,692 102,230

Reno3 vs Reno3 Pro AnTuTu Scores

MediaTek launched its flagship Dimensity 1000 chipset only the last month and is used in the Reno3 smartphone for the first time. The chip itself introduced the ARM’s latest Cortex-A77 cores for the first time. OPPO just has been the bad guy for Qualcomm by putting its chipset right beside the MediaTek’s one in its recent two siblings.

It’s going to be easy for OPPO fans to decide between the two devices. The cheaper Reno3 could be the best choice for most people for better overall performance. In fact, the ARM’s Mali GPUs have usually been seen as less performers than Qualcomm’s Adreno GPUs. But MediaTek’s Dimensity 1000L even performed better

With these scores in hand, it’s obvious that you will be paying around and extra $85 for Reno3 Pro’s better display properties only. Whereas Reno3 also has a 64MP main camera compared to Reno3 Pro’s 48MP. But Reno3 Pro has an additional 13MP telephoto camera replacing the depth sensor in Reno3.

So, make your choice.
