There has been much shared, in fact, cluttered features between smartphones from different vendors in Pakistan. Especially among mid-range or budget devices when offered from the same company under different subbrands. Two such companies or brands are Infinix and Tecno.
Infinix has pretty much settled in the country, however, Tecno is usually seemed to be struggling. But in recent days, Tecno has also started marketing well and released quite a few devices in the budget segment. The company recently launched its Spark 4 which comes with common features but sooner later it launched another smartphone, Camon 12 Air with some interesting features from high-end devices. Only a couple of weeks later, Infinix Mobility launched Infinix S5 with almost identical features. In fact, when we tried the smartphone, it was pretty much identical in build and quality as well as design. The Infinix S5 is priced a few thousands higher but also featured a higher-res front camera in addition to a quad rear camera setup.
What makes the two devices — Camon 12 air and Infinix S5, identical is their design, build quality and even a lot of inner hardware except memory and camera. However, the biggest identical element is their punch-hold display.
It was quite a hard decision to make which one to choose when there was only Infinix S5 in two memory variants. But you had a key difference to decide. Whether you want some higher-res camera in four cam-setup, or three will do fine for you? You just need to add extra 4,000 rupees on top of what you would pay for Camon 12 Air, to get a quad-camera setup on Infinix S5.
But things get easier when you get another option to compare. Infinix S5 Lite came later but was almost 99% identical to Camon 12 Air. Still, the Infinix S5 Lite is on a bit par with a 16MP front camera instead of 8MP with Camon 12 Air. But we still have a PKR 1,000/- difference in price. I haven’t tried the S5 Lite so I can’t say about its build quality or design but I believe it would be the same as S5.
So what should you choose now? Now it’s only a matter of preference when I have put everything about these devices in front of you. So, make your choice.
