WhatsApp started rolling out Mute Always feature on Android devices

WhatsApp Mute Always

If we think about a feature that most people would have wanted in WhatsApp, that will be the one to mute a contact or a group chat forever. Until now the messaging app had offered you to mute only for up to a year. You could mute a contact or a group for eight hours or a week as well.

Now the feature to mute for “Always” or permanently is about to reach your WhatsApp along with some other useful upgrades. We heard earlier this year that WhatsApp was working on the “Mute Always” feature but now it looks like it has started rolling out to beta users.

The option to mute for “always” will replace the existing option to mute for “a year”. Other two options to mute for “8 hours” or for “a week” will stay. Though the reported version of WhatsApp with the said feature is 2.20.201.10, however, the option was first made available in 2.20.201.9.

WABetaInfo reported about several other features including a new storage usage interface with more detailed sections to tell what’s taking how much space on your phone. The new storage interface shows content separately with respect to its sizes, such as showing larger files in a separate section and the most forwarded media in a separate section. You can delete the selective media right from this interface, while you can still explore media by chat from the respective chat threads.

The new features include Always Mute, No Calls for Verified Businesses, Media Guidelines, New Storage Usage.

Also, note that these features are currently limited to the beta version of WhatsApp and there is no specified time when these features will be rolled out to live version of WhatsApp on Play store. There is no word either about WhatsApp for iOS.
