Infinix launched its first laptop series INBook X1 with Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 variants. I have reviewed the laptop, and you can check our opinion if you want to buy it. The pricing of the laptop starts from PKR 80,000 and goes up to PKR 138,000.
During the usage and extensive test of the laptop, I faced a couple of issues that I have covered in the review. One of the problems with the laptop was that the company had not provided drivers support after the sale. Wait! if you want me to cut to the point, you can skip it and find the links to the drivers after the break.
Okay, so when I upgraded the machine by re-installing the Windows 10 operating system, I got stuck finding the correct drivers for most of the hardware components and failed. So I contacted Infinix via their Facebook page and started a conversation where they asked me to wait while they come back with a solution.
Meanwhile, I kept trying, found and tried many drivers from free and paid driver providers and found that many newer drivers were failing to work with this machine’s hardware. Most importantly the two were audio and fingerprint sensor. Several audio drivers were fine, however, the system’s built-in DTS Audio Processing software application was never found. The drivers for the Goodix fingerprint sensor were available from various sources but I struggled to find an older version that successfully worked.
During the course of this struggle, I also found that even Realme and Xiaomi haven’t set up a proper support portal for their laptop devices. They, at least, have provided a single page with the download links to the supported drivers for a couple of machines. Considering the fact that these smartphone makers do not have a huge range of laptops, so that’s pretty much fine to have a single page with all the download links. But unfortunately, with Infinix, I didn’t have that option as well.
Finally, I got a positive response from Infinix and they brought me a single link to their CDN. It was an archive file of size over 2.5GB that I needed to download. I extracted it and I was glad to have a big set of individual drivers for the laptop. I tried them all on a fresh install again and they indeed worked.
It’s now over a month if we count from the launch day in Pakistan, but it’s around six months when the company launched the machine in other regions. Unfortunately, they still haven’t provided a drivers support portal or a page for the Infinix INBook X1 Pro laptop. So I decided to put them up on Google Drive as separate downloads for each driver.
