Vivo launched its flagship X70 Pro last year but it just made its spot on DXOMark’s camera ranking beating the iPhone 13’s camera.
No wonder, Vivo offers top-of-the-notch cameras in its smartphones. Especially after having collaboration with the optic experts ZEISS, its camera offering has been even better than before.
The company, however, hardly made its way through the top charts of DXOMarks until last month when the Vivo X70 Pro+ got its spot in the top ten camera smartphones. Now the MediaTek powered Vivo X70 Pro also seems to have impressed the mobile camera rankers.
Though not in the top ten, the Vivo X70 Pro managed to beat the iPhone 13’s camera. The iPhone 13 mini and 12 Pro Max also drop below Vivo’s contender. With an overall score of 131 points. The X70 Pro shares the 12th slot with its older predecessor X50 Pro+ and the OPPO Find X3 Pro.
In the positive remarks, DXOMark has noted the accurate exposure in all lighting conditions with a wide dynamic range. The color reproduction was nice as well as the X70 Pro managed to preserve good detail in low light. A wider depth of field impressed the reviewers with accurate autofocus. White balance on the ultra-wide camera was also accurate which is usually not the case. The telephoto camera also managed to keep good image detail.
On the negative side, reviewers noted white balance casts in low-light photos and videos. Highlight clipping was counted as another problem while a slight noise was noticeable in all conditions. The ultra-wide camera was pron to color fringing.
In videos, the exposure was noted as good along with white balance and detail in bright daylight. In the low light video, the detail and autofocus were not fine and the exposure was not consistent. Video stabilization also didn’t bother the camera experts.
