The Duskbloods will not launch this year. FromSoftware announced on Thursday that its multiplayer Switch 2 exclusive has moved to 2027, with no month or day attached.
The studio had been aiming for 2026 since the game was revealed at a Switch 2 showcase in April 2025. It now says the game is at its final adjustment stage and needs more time for the rules and balancing.
What the August test told the studio
FromSoftware pointed to the network test it ran in August. The first session was cut short by server problems, but the studio said players showed strong interest in the core ideas: combat, strategic depth and the room to play your own way. It wants to polish exactly those areas before release.
An Engadget report adds that the move also avoids a crowded end of the year, with Grand Theft Auto 6 and the Ocarina of Time remake both pulling attention. That is the outlet’s reading, not something FromSoftware said.
Not the first Switch 2 slip for the studio
The same Engadget piece points out that FromSoftware has taken extra time on Nintendo’s console before. The Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was planned for 2025 and only arrived in August 2026, after reports of performance problems pushed the studio to keep optimising it. In both cases the stated aim is a more polished release, and in both cases the studio chose to wait rather than ship on the original schedule.
For players, the practical effect is simple: anyone who bought a Switch 2 with this game in mind has at least a few more months to wait. FromSoftware has not said whether further network tests will run before launch, so there is nothing to sign up for yet. Nintendo’s own listing for the game is the place to watch for a date.
Release and availability
The only date on offer is the year. Nintendo and FromSoftware have not given a window within 2027, a price or a pre-order date. The game stays exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2, and we have not seen an official statement on its sale in Pakistan.
We’ll write it up again when a release date is announced.
