Owners of the Phone 3a, Phone 3a Pro, Phone 4a and Phone 4a Pro can now install Nothing OS 5.0, the company’s skin on top of Android 17. Nothing had pencilled the release in for November, so it lands a few days sooner than promised.
Delivery is staggered by region and carrier, so not everyone will see it at once. Checking manually means going to System Updates in settings.
Glass-effect theme, Glyph app, two cameras at once
The build number is C5.0-261023-2146, according to Nothing’s community changelog for the Phone 3a series. The frosted translucent look, a separate quick settings pane, multi-select for home screen icons and three new widgets are quickly observed. The Glyph light controls get their own app and a timer widget, noted Android Headlines.
In the camera, Dual-view Video films with the selfie and main lenses together. Image tuning with seven effects is limited to the 3a models; the 4a models instead transcribe speech faster. Android 17 itself adds finer HDR brightness control and a yellow dot while AI features are active.
Expect a big download of 3.09 GB, as Android Headlines reports it. Nothing is said to be working through its older phones next, with the Phone 2a and 2a Plus due in mid-November. The Phone 3 got its update earlier in October.
