Pokémon Unite to shut down on 23 March 2027

The Pokémon Company will end service for Pokémon Unite on mobile and Switch on 23 March 2027, and has already stopped selling Aeos gems.

Key points

  • Pokémon Unite shuts down on 23 March 2027 on mobile and Switch.
  • Aeos gem sales and new UNITE Club memberships stopped on 27 October.
  • A final update on 12 November adds a coin exchange and a library feature.

Pokémon Unite, the free 5-on-5 MOBA played on Android, iOS and Nintendo Switch, will go offline on 23 March 2027. The Pokémon Company announced the end of service on 27 October, the same day it stopped selling in-game currency.

Aeos gem sales and new UNITE Club memberships were switched off on 27 October. People who already hold gems or a membership can keep using them until the servers close, and current members keep their perks until their membership period runs out.

A final update on 12 November

The last update lands on 12 November and adds a coin exchange. Players can swap Unite coins for older items they missed, including Pokémon licences and Holowear outfits, for as long as the game stays up. A new “library” feature also arrives with it.

The official end-of-service notice says players must complete the library data download before service ends to keep access to certain records and in-game content afterwards. Library data generally can’t be moved between devices, and the notice doesn’t mention refunds, so anyone with a purchase query is told to contact Support.

What stops working, and when

Nothing changes for matches until the closing date: login and battles continue until 23 March 2027, when the game stops on both the Switch and mobile. After that, anything not saved through the library download is gone, and the notice says library support ends together with the service. Players who have questions about gems already bought are directed to Support rather than given a refund policy.

Esports carries on for now

The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competition is still happening, and its qualifiers begin on 5 December. Once the service closes, the company will also stop publishing its content guidelines for online platforms and stop supporting use of the game’s video and images, which matters to streamers and YouTubers who make Unite videos.

A Droid Life report describes the game as having been in decline in recent years and blames its monetisation; that is the outlet’s view, not something The Pokémon Company has said. The company has not given a reason for the shutdown in the notice we read.

If you still play, the 12 November update is the date to mark: spend your coins and finish the library download well before 23 March.
