Jazz still leads Pakistan’s cellular market, but only by a sliver. September 2026 figures put Jazz at 36.15% of subscribers and Ufone at 36.08%, a gap of 0.07 percentage points.
The reason is the merger, not a month of fast growth. PTML, the company behind Ufone, took over Telenor Pakistan’s subscribers, so Ufone went from 15.05% of the market in August to 36.08% a month later.
Zong holds third, SCO stays at 1%
Zong stays in third place, with a share that edged down from 26.83% to 26.78%. The Special Communications Organisation (SCO) stayed at about 1%, against 1.01% a month earlier.
The merger leaves three large operators instead of four. Combined, Jazz and Ufone now hold more than 72% of cellular subscribers, so a customer choosing a network is picking between fewer brands than a year ago.
What the numbers cannot say yet
One month of combined figures tells us how big the merged operator is, not how it will behave. Ufone’s share is a sum of two subscriber bases, and any churn between networks, SIM clean-ups or tariff changes will only show in the coming months of PTA’s subscriber data.
The September report is the first to count Telenor’s base under Ufone. The October figures will show whether Jazz keeps its lead once the merged operator starts to settle.
