If you have been undecided about James Bond’s origin game, there is now a free way to try it. IO Interactive has put out a 007 First Light Starter Pack on Steam and Xbox Series X|S, live since 5 November, and your save moves over if you later buy the whole game.
The trial stops after the opening chapter, a mission in Iceland called Against the Odds that introduces a younger Bond. Steam players get achievements and cloud saves in it. Everything past that chapter, including the remaining story, the challenges and the Tactical Simulations mode, stays locked behind the full purchase.
PS5 is a few days behind. The Starter Pack lands there on 10 November, and PlayStation Plus Premium members can use a one-hour trial in the meantime.
Discounts run alongside it, according to Notebookcheck’s report: 40% off on Steam until 9 November, 40% off on Xbox until 15 November and 50% off on PS5 until 30 November. The Steam page shows the 40% cut. Prices vary by region, and we found no Pakistani price.
The game itself is older than the demo suggests. It launched on 27 May, per Notebookcheck, and has had two free updates since. Version 1.1.0 arrived on 24 July with two extra Tactical Simulations missions, three weapons and an outfit. The 1 October Extended Operations update was larger: New Game+, a tougher 00 difficulty, a photo mode, a Valhalla Protocol driving activity and a Jungle Heist operation.
Before downloading on PC, clear 80 GB of SSD space and make sure you run 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. The minimum spec aims for 1080p at 30fps and lists a Core i5-9500 or Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 or RX 5700 with 6 GB of video memory. For 1080p at 60fps, the recommended spec is a Core i5-13500 or Ryzen 5 7600, 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 3060 Ti or RX 6700 XT with 8 GB.
The full game is on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and the Epic Games Store, with a Switch 2 release set for 18 March 2027.
