If you miss what someone just said, your Apple Watch will soon be able to show it to you. Apple has put Live Rewind and Siri Recap, two of the Audio Intelligence features announced with the Apple Watch Series 12, into the watchOS 27.3 developer beta.
Double-press the Digital Crown and Live Rewind puts the previous 15 seconds of conversation on screen in writing. Siri Recap goes further and writes a short summary of a whole conversation. Both are opt-in, and both work only on the newest hardware.
Apple’s support page says an unsaved Live Rewind snippet is gone roughly half a minute after the display dims; you can keep it in the Siri app or use the Ask Siri button to query it. Siri Recap produces key points rather than a transcript, and unsaved summaries are deleted after seven days. You can switch Recap on by schedule, by location or by hand, and toggle it from Control Center.
Apple says the features do not identify or label who is speaking. Engadget’s beta write-up adds that Live Rewind plays a chime and shows a microphone indicator when it is used, even with the watch on silent, and that Recap summaries leave out sensitive details such as financial data.
Live Rewind and Siri Recap need an Series 12 or Ultra 4 watch, plus a paired iPhone 16 or newer with Apple Intelligence turned on. Apple’s page lists the iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, the iPhone 18 Pro models and the iPhone Duo among the supported phones. They are labelled beta, will arrive in English first and are not initially available in the EU. They are also not offered to users under 13, and a child account needs a parent to switch them on.
The other two Audio Intelligence tools are broader. Sound Recognition warns you about alarms, sirens and doorbells even when your iPhone is elsewhere, while Music Recognition hands song-spotting to Shazam. Those two work with older iPhones, from the iPhone 11 and the second-generation iPhone SE onwards, on iOS 27.
The beta is limited to developers for now. Apple’s page describes both features as arriving in beta later this year, and it has not given a date for a wider release.
