If you were hoping the Galaxy S27+ would charge faster than last year’s Plus phone, the paperwork says no. Samsung’s unannounced handset has turned up in safety filings rated 15V at 3A. Multiply those and you get 45W, which is exactly what the Galaxy S26+ offers today.
Treat it as a regulatory listing, not a Samsung announcement. The company has not confirmed the S27+ or any spec, and a certificate shows only the charger rating filed for approval. It tells us nothing about the battery, the chip or the price.
GSMArena spotted the new filings, and the model numbers in them point to every regional version of the phone sharing one rating:
| Region | Model number |
|---|---|
| Global | SM-S956B |
| South Korea | SM-S956N |
| United States | SM-S956U |
| China | SM-S9560 |
| Japan (Docomo) | SC-52H |
Sixth Plus phone at 45W
The first hint of 45W came in September from China’s 3C database, which listed the S27+ as SM-S9560 at the same rating, according to Nokiamob’s write-up of that filing. It also showed that the S27 and S27+ would ship with a USB-C cable and no charger.
If the figures hold, the Plus model will have sat at 45W for six generations running, starting with the Galaxy S22+. The standard Galaxy S27 gets no boost either: a certification from last week pointed to 25W, the same as the Galaxy S26.
For the standard Galaxy S27, the same September filing lists model SM-S9520 at 25W wired charging. Samsung has kept that figure on its base S-series phone since the Galaxy S20 in 2020, so anyone waiting for a faster entry-level flagship should not expect one this time.
The missing charger matters for what you actually pay and plug in. A phone rated for 45W only charges at that speed with a compatible adapter, and the filing says none comes in the box. Buyers will need an existing USB-C charger that supports the rating, or a separate purchase, to see the full figure.
The new safety certifications and the September filing agree on the rating. Any change would have to come from a later filing or from Samsung itself, and the company has not said when it will announce the S27 range.
Samsung is rumoured to be heading back to its usual January or February launch window for the S27 range, so official numbers should not be far away. Until then, the charging rating is all these certificates establish.
