Samsung’s 2027 foldables may bring few camera upgrades, according to Lanzuk, a tipster. The claim is that both new models keep the rear cameras of this year’s phones, with the only visible change a returning camera hidden under the inner display.
Samsung has said nothing about either phone, so this is a leak and not a spec sheet. Here is what Lanzuk describes:
| Model | Main | Ultra-wide | Telephoto |
|---|---|---|---|
| Z Fold9 Ultra | 200MP | 50MP | 3x optical zoom, no resolution given |
| Z Fold9 | 50MP | 50MP | Not mentioned |
The zoom line is vague, since the tipster gave no resolution. GSMArena, which reported the claim, points out that the current telephoto module is 10MP and that even the Galaxy S27 Pro is rumoured to get only a 12MP 3x camera, so a big jump looks unlikely.
Samsung already upgraded the Z Fold8 Ultra’s ultra-wide from 12MP to 50MP this year and left the other two modules alone. The 200MP sensor in the Z Fold7 and Z Fold8 Ultra is the ISOCELL HP2, which has been Samsung’s 200MP choice from the Galaxy S23 Ultra onwards, and the 50MP main camera of the Z Fold8 uses the ISOCELL GN3. A new sensor is possible, but a swap seems unlikely.
Lanzuk has been right before: the July claim that the Z Fold8 Ultra would inherit the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s video LUT feature turned out true. An earlier leak said the Z Fold9 may bring back the hidden selfie camera, which fits this account.
Samsung has not announced a launch date or any details for the Z Fold9 series.
