Honor 700 Pro reportedly gets Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, base model an 8s Gen 4

The Digital Chat Station leak says Honor's 700 series, due in China this month, runs on Snapdragon 8 chips, with the Pro on the Gen 5.

Key points

  • Digital Chat Station says the Honor 700 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.
  • The standard Honor 700 is tipped for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4.
  • Honor has not confirmed the chips; a China launch is expected this month.

Honor’s next mid-premium phones may carry flagship-class processors. Digital Chat Station claims the Honor 700 Pro will have Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, and the cheaper Honor 700 an 8s Gen 4.

A China launch is expected this month. Honor has not confirmed the chips, a date or any specification, so all of this is a leak.

Gizmochina relayed the tip and put it against the competition. Oppo has confirmed that its Reno 17 series arrives in November, and Vivo’s S70 is also expected soon. The base Reno 17 is tipped for a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, so Honor’s pair would sit a tier above it on paper. The Reno 17 Pro is tipped for a Dimensity 8500 Super, and the S70 for the same 8s Gen 4 chip as the standard Honor 700.

The chip tip comes on top of older leaks. They mention a 6.57-inch OLED panel and a 1.72-inch screen on the back, a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel periscope camera on the Pro and a 200mm telephoto add-on. Battery size is put near 9,000mAh, and the Pro is said to charge wirelessly at 50W. Three models are reported to have cleared China’s 3C database with wired charging up to 80W.

The 3C entries, covered by Nokiamob, list the model numbers FAS-AN00 for the Honor 700 and FAA-AN00 for the Pro, under the codename Flora. A third model had not yet been certified when those two appeared, which suggests Honor is keeping its usual three-model line-up for the series rather than trimming it.

Until Honor posts its own teaser, the chips and everything else here can still change. Nothing has been said about markets outside China.
