Jazz has started selling a small 5G device, and its price is Rs. 18,000. The promotional graphic the operator put out on Monday is stamped “Now available” and tells buyers to visit their nearest Jazz Experience Center or franchise.
Jazz calls it simply the Jazz 5G Device. The picture shows a palm-sized unit with a colour screen, a Menu button and Jazz 5G branding on the back, the sort of pocket hotspot you carry to give a laptop or tablet a connection. The caption, in Roman Urdu, promises a “chhoti si device” with a big speed surprise.
The post on Jazz’s X account went up on 2 November under the #JazzHamariSuperPower tag, with the line “Switch to Tez Tareen Internet with Jazz 5G Device” on the graphic. There is no model name, speed figure or battery rating in it.
The timing fits a partnership Jazz announced on 24 September with the device maker DIGIT and the chip company UNISOC. The three said they would bring two products to Pakistan, a 5G MiFi and a 5G smartphone, built on UNISOC’s V510 and UMS9621 platforms, with prices and sales channels to be announced separately. Jazz had switched on its 5G network in March, starting with about 180 sites in Islamabad and the provincial capitals, and 5G only reaches customers whose device supports it.
Jazz has not said that the new device is the MiFi from that partnership, but a retailer’s listing suggests it is.
A third party store has a product page titled Jazz 5G Pocket Wifi M52, and its description calls the unit the Digit M52 5G Pocket Wi-Fi 6. Everything below is the store’s own spec sheet, not Jazz’s, so treat it as unconfirmed until Jazz publishes the same numbers.
| Spec | As listed by Telco Store |
|---|---|
| Network | 5G NR (SA/NSA), 4G LTE Cat4 |
| 5G peak speed | Up to 2.6 Gbps down, 650 Mbps up |
| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 6, dual-band, up to 1,200 Mbps combined |
| SIM | Nano SIM plus eSIM |
| Battery | 4,000 mAh, removable, 10 to 15 hours of use |
| Screen and port | 2.4-inch colour display, USB Type-C |
| Size and weight | 131 x 70 x 18.3 mm, 180 g |
The store asks Rs. 25,000, marked down from Rs. 30,000, which is Rs. 7,000 more than Jazz’s own price, and shows the unit as sold out. It also contradicts itself on network support: one line says the hotspot works with all Pakistani networks, another says it supports only Jazz SIMs. Whether Jazz locks the device is worth asking at the counter before paying.
Warranty terms and any data bundle that comes with the device are also questions for the Jazz Experience Center, since neither Jazz’s post nor its graphic mentions them.
