Motorola ‘moto one’ reportedly shows up with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Benchmark and charging listings reportedly show an unannounced Motorola phone, 'moto one', with a flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip and 12GB of RAM.

Key points

  • A 'moto one' (XT2771-1) has reportedly appeared in the WPC database and Geekbench.
  • Listings point to Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 12GB RAM, Android 16 and 15W Qi charging.
  • Motorola has not confirmed the phone or its name.

Would Motorola really hang a flagship chip on a name it used for mid-range phones? That is the question raised by a model numbered XT2771-1, which is reportedly listed as the “moto one” and carries a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Motorola has said nothing about it, so treat every detail as unconfirmed.

Four Geekbench records for the model show 12GB of RAM and Android 16 alongside that chip. The best of them reached 2,109 points on one core and 8,586 across all cores.

The Moto X70 Ultra, which ran Geekbench last November with the same chip family and 16GB of RAM, managed 2,634 and 7,475. So the new phone is slower on a single core and faster on many, a gap that unfinished pre-release software can easily explain.

The design and charging side comes from the Wireless Power Consortium’s Qi database, where the same model number is listed with 15W wireless charging, the usual rate. Gizmochina found both the Qi entry and the benchmark runs and connected them. Wired charging speed, screen size, battery, cameras and price are all missing.

The One badge dates from 2018, when Motorola used it for upper mid-range handsets. A Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is well above that tier, so either the brand is bringing the name back for something pricier, or “moto one” is an internal label that will not reach shops. More certification listings usually follow before a launch, and those may settle it. The brand’s Signature 27, a different phone with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme, is dated for 5 November.
