Hoyoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has confirmed that its new life sim Petit Planet will also come to the Nintendo Switch 2, in 2027. No date has been given for the console version.
The game itself is free to play and launches earlier, on 4 December 2026, on PC, iOS and Android. The Switch 2 plan was announced in a special presentation on 1 November, the first console platform the studio has named.
A planet to look after and neighbours to visit
You start on a small planet of your own and decorate it, farm and fish on it. From there you can sail out to the islands floating around the Starsea setting and drop into the Galactic Bazaar, a hub with player auctions and community features. The presentation also showed some of the animal neighbours you meet, the home decor tools and several mini-games. Hoyoverse’s official site has pre-registration open and runs a “Launch a Planet” event that began the same day, with prizes for people who sign up before launch.
Hoyoverse announced the game in September 2025. IGN played about five hours of a closed beta and described it as Animal Crossing: New Horizons meets The Little Prince, with clearer progression and multiplayer, which it said some players felt New Horizons lacked. It also warned of unspecified caveats.
Crops, crafting furniture and building friendships with the neighbours make up the daily loop. Putting the game on Switch 2 also places it on the console where Animal Crossing lives, so the comparison with Nintendo’s series will follow it there.
What is still open
Hoyoverse says the Switch 2 port is in active development and that it will share footage and details soon. Notebookcheck reports that more than 1,000 clothing and furniture items can be unlocked through normal play. No PlayStation or Xbox version has been announced, even though the studio has brought most of its recent games to PlayStation.
The 4 December launch is the date to watch for mobile and PC players, and the Switch 2 release date, along with gameplay footage from the port, is still to come.
