Samsung’s first over-ear headphones in years look closer to launch. A headset with the model number SM-U700 has appeared in the US Federal Communications Commission’s database, and leakers say it is the product Samsung will call the Galaxy Studio. Samsung has confirmed nothing.
The FCC record does not name the product or say it is a pair of over-ear headphones. What it does show, according to the report that spotted it, is the position of the regulatory label, which comes with a partial image of the hardware. Judging by that picture, the earcups appear to fold flat. Related filing documents list two colours, black and beige.
The Galaxy Studio name comes from earlier leaks and a Samsung trademark filing, not from the FCC paperwork. Leaked app code and a South Korean radio certification for the same SM-U700 number had already surfaced, according to reports.

Samsung last sold full-size wireless headphones in 2014 and has since stuck to Galaxy Buds. The same leaks claim Bluetooth 6.1, active noise cancelling, Buds Auto Switch to jump between a phone, tablet and laptop, and USB-C for charging and possibly wired listening. None of that is confirmed either.
Timing is also unofficial. Reports expect the headphones in early 2027, alongside the Galaxy S27 series, and describe them as a rival to Sony’s WH-1000XM6 and Apple’s AirPods Max 2. An FCC grant is a step a wireless product needs before sale in the US, but it says nothing about price or date. Samsung has given no price.
Certifications often come weeks or months before launch,. Treat the name, colours and features as leaked until Samsung announces the headphones itself.
