The W27 is Samsung’s new luxury foldable for China, and it opens at CNY 18,999 for 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Going to 1TB takes the price to CNY 21,999.
The W27 is a book-style foldable built around the same hardware as this year’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, dressed up with a gold-toned frame and camera module. Samsung usually releases a China-only W-series foldable, aimed at buyers who want a showpiece more than a spec upgrade.
Gold trim, same core hardware
Samsung’s W27 page lists a 6.5-inch cover screen and an 8-inch inner display, both peaking at 3,000 nits with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The phone weighs about 215g and is roughly 4.1mm thick unfolded and 8.9mm folded. The back is Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, and the frame is armoured aluminium with a gem-like gold texture and a frosted gold camera island. Samsung offers two colourways inspired by traditional Chinese colours.
| Spec | Samsung W27 |
|---|---|
| Chip | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy |
| Memory | 16GB RAM, 512GB or 1TB storage |
| Rear cameras | 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto |
| Battery | 5,000mAh (typical) |
| Software | One UI 9 |
| Price (China) | CNY 18,999 (512GB), CNY 21,999 (1TB) |
The W27 is sold only with 16GB of RAM. An Android Authority comparison notes that the Z Fold 8 Ultra also comes in 12GB variants with less storage, so the W27 drops the cheaper tiers.
On the camera side, Samsung’s page says the 50MP ultrawide records 8K video, and a horizon-lock mode in the stabilisation settings keeps footage level even when the camera is rotated.
Satellite calls and what is in the box
The phone supports Tiantong satellite voice calls and text messages, which need a Tiantong service plan. Samsung’s China store is giving buyers a year of the direct satellite feature, 300 minutes of satellite calls and 100 satellite texts with orders during the promotion period.
The box contains the phone, a Kevlar magnetic case, a cable and a 45W charger. Samsung also sells eSIM support through China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, which activates only at carrier counters for now.
The W27 is a China-only model and Samsung has announced nothing outside that market. The global Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra remains the version available elsewhere.
