If your Apple Watch looks an hour out when your wrist is down, the watch itself probably has the right time. Apple has published a support document on a daylight saving bug that affects only the dimmed Always On display, and it lists two quick fixes.
According to Apple, the wrong hour shows up only while the screen is in its low-power state. Tap the display or raise your wrist and the correct time appears. The fix is to switch to a different watch face and then back to the one you use, or to restart the watch.
Reports of the problem began in Europe when clocks went back there in late October. The US followed on Sunday, 1 November, and MacRumors noted Apple’s document after that second round of clock changes. Apple has not said which watch models or software versions are affected, or whether a software update will remove the need for the workaround.
The glitch is cosmetic. Alarms, timers and notifications run off the watch’s real clock, and Apple’s document describes the wrong hour as limited to the Always On screen. If the Always On display is switched off in Settings, the problem has nowhere to show.
