Phantom Blade Zero has sold more than 4 million copies in its first 72 hours, S-GAME said on Monday. That makes it one of the strongest launches of the year for a studio putting out its first big console and PC game.
The number covers PlayStation 5 and PC, where the game is sold on Steam and the Epic Games Store. S-GAME did not split the figure by platform or by edition, and it did not say whether copies played through subscription services were counted.
S-GAME announced the milestone on the game’s official X account with a thank-you message and a graphic. The standard edition costs $59.99 and the Deluxe Edition $69.99, according to RPG Site, and a physical PS5 release is planned for 2027.
833,000 players at the same time
On Steam the game’s store page shows 89% positive user reviews. Wccftech, which gave the game a 10 out of 10 review, reports that concurrent players on Steam peaked at about 833,000 over the weekend. That lands the game in the platform’s all-time top 10 for peak players, between Baldur’s Gate 3 and Battlefield 6.
The comparison everyone will reach for is Black Myth: Wukong, another Chinese action game, which sold 10 million copies in its first three days in August 2024 on the same two platforms. Phantom Blade Zero is at roughly 40% of that pace, and Wukong’s Steam peak was around three times higher at 2.4 million players.
The wishlist numbers pointed this way
Interest was visible before launch. In August, Alinea Analytics estimated that pre-orders on Steam alone had reached about 300,000 copies, or $14.5 million. The game also topped Steam’s wishlist ranking for the year at 1.6 million, which the firm measured at 73% of Wukong’s pace before its own launch.
S-GAME has not said whether it plans paid expansions or a launch on other consoles. For now, the PS5 and Steam stores are where the game is available worldwide in digital form.
