Honor’s Magic9 Pro Max, the camera flagship it built with the cinema-equipment maker ARRI, is leaving China. Its first stop is a Hong Kong launch event on Wednesday, 4 November, where the price for buyers outside China is due to be confirmed.
The date came from Honor’s global marketing chief, Guan Haitao, in a post on Weibo. The phone has been on sale in China since 28 September, so the Hong Kong event is the first look at how Honor prices it elsewhere.
What the Pro Max offers
Photography leads the pitch. Honor’s China launch announcement describes two 200MP cameras on the back, a wide one and a periscope telephoto, with a 50MP ultrawide beside them and a 55MP square selfie lens up front. The video side is tuned with ARRI: recording tops out at 4K and 60fps, and there are 14 preset colour looks.
Around that sits a 6.8-inch OLED panel that Honor says hits 10,000 nits for a moment, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and MagicOS 11 on Android 17. A silicon-carbon cell of 8,800mAh feeds it, and charging runs to 100W by cable or 80W wirelessly, though the wireless charger costs extra. Dust and water ratings go up to IP69K. Honor’s brightness and imaging figures come from its own labs.
The phone’s four configurations in China pair 12GB or 16GB of RAM with 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, and its design borrows from ARRI’s three-lens turret film cameras, with a raised round camera module. Honor says the module sits so that fingers are less likely to cover the lenses while filming. The company’s chief executive, James Li, calls the phone a handheld cinema system built to make film-style shooting available to everyday creators.
Two teleconverters, the G200 and G500, and a SmallRig video kit are sold as extras.
Prices and the rest of the line
In China the Pro Max starts at RMB 6,499 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage; the four versions go up to 16GB and 1TB. Honor has not published a Hong Kong price. ShiftDelete, which reported the Hong Kong date, adds that the standard Magic9 and a Super Edition with an 11,000mAh battery are part of the China line-up, and that Honor has confirmed Europe for January, including the UK and France, without European prices.
Chinese buyers can pick black, silver or green. Honor has said regional rollouts in the Middle East and Africa, Southeast Asia and other markets will be announced later.
The Hong Kong event on 4 November is where the global price and the list of models for that market should appear.
