Google Forms can now use Gemini to read through your survey responses and tell you what they add up to. A new insights option in the Responses tab produces counts, trends and suggested next steps, so you no longer need to export the answers to a spreadsheet to make sense of them.
The feature, called actionable insights, is aimed at the people who run feedback forms, event sign-ups and research surveys. It is rolling out in stages and is tied to certain Google Workspace plans, so it may not show up for everyone yet.
Google’s Workspace Updates post says Gemini does not simply guess at the numbers. It writes and runs Python code on the response data, which Google says keeps counts, percentages and comparisons tied to what people actually answered. Gemini also looks for connections between questions, such as how one group’s answers differ on another question, and finishes with a short list of the main takeaways and recommended next steps.
Google gives three example uses: event and product feedback, where it can show what respondents liked most and what needs work; research surveys, where it can spot patterns across many answers; and registration or application forms, where it can describe who is signing up. Its demo shows the tool, labelled Beta, working through feedback from a business networking event.
In practice you open a form, go to Responses and press the Generate insights button above the answers. Gemini then writes its report beside the data. Because it reads every answer rather than a sample, the larger the response count, the more it saves compared with scrolling through individual replies by hand. Google has not said how it handles forms with very large numbers of responses.
Availability is limited to paying Workspace customers for now. Google lists Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, and the Google AI Pro for Education and Teaching and Learning add-ons. The post does not mention personal Google accounts or the free tier.
There is one switch to check first. The Gemini side panel inside Workspace apps only works for people who have smart features and personalization switched on, and admins can make that the default for their organisation from the Admin console. Google points users to its Help Center page on summarising and analysing responses for the details.
The rollout follows two schedules. Domains on Rapid Release began receiving it on 2 November, and the gradual rollout takes up to 15 days to reach everyone. Domains on Scheduled Release start on 19 November, with the same 15-day spread.
