Pakistani freelancers on Upwork can now withdraw their earnings straight into a mobile wallet instead of routing them through a bank. The wallets on the list are JazzCash, Easypaisa, NayaPay, SadaPay and Finja, and the option has started showing up inside Pakistani accounts.
The pop-up in the app puts the fee at a flat $1.99 per withdrawal. Money usually lands within minutes, though a transfer that has not arrived after 24 hours is worth raising with the wallet provider and then with Upwork.
Pakistan is one of five countries on Upwork’s direct to wallet list, alongside Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines and Kenya. The fee is not the same everywhere: Upwork says it varies by wallet, so the amount you see for JazzCash may differ from the one shown for another provider. Payouts in rupees are converted at a rate that already includes the currency conversion cost, with no extra conversion fee taken afterwards, and the wallet company can add charges of its own.
You need an active wallet account first. Upwork’s setup guide says to open Settings, then Withdrawals, choose Add a method and press Setup next to direct to wallet. For security the new method only becomes usable after three days. Your first and last name must match both the wallet account and your verified name on Upwork exactly, and each wallet sets its own withdrawal limit, which appears when you add the method and again when you withdraw.
Freelancers who currently go through Payoneer or a bank can compare the fee on their own withdrawal screen before switching. Upwork says more countries and wallets will be added in phases.
