Pakistan earned $1.246 billion from telecom, computer and information services in July to September, nearly half of all services exports.

Key points

  • Telecom, computer and information services earned $1.246 billion in July to September, up 17.7%.
  • Total services exports hit $2.72 billion, up 22.6% on last year.
  • Services imports rose 16.32% to $3.55 billion, leaving a $832.16 million deficit.

Pakistan earned $1.246 billion from telecom, computer and information services in the first three months of the 2026-27 financial year, up 17.7% from $1.059 billion in the same months last year. That category supplied close to half of the country’s services exports.

Services exports as a whole reached $2.72 billion in July to September, against $2.22 billion a year earlier, a rise of 22.6%. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics compiled the headline figure, while the State Bank of Pakistan supplied the breakdown by type of service. September alone brought in $929.87 million, 15.35% more than September 2025.

The IT and telecom category earned $435 million in September, which is 18.21% above the $368 million of a year before. Other business services did better in percentage terms: $622 million for the quarter, up 27.98% from $486 million. Transport services rose 9.66% to $295 million from $269 million.

Money also went the other way. Services imports grew 16.32% to $3.55 billion, with transport the biggest item and travel second, so Pakistan still spends more on services than it sells. The quarterly gap stayed almost flat at $832.16 million, a fall of 0.33% from $834.88 million. September was worse: the monthly deficit widened by 84% to $282.76 million compared with the same month last year.

The quarter builds on a strong 2025-26. Services exports ended that year at $10.04 billion, up 18.81% from $8.45 billion, which was Rs. 2.815 trillion in rupee terms, 19.33% higher than the year before. The State Bank’s balance of payments summary carries the quarterly services totals.

Advertising is a much smaller slice of the services total: Pakistani agencies sold $30.7 million of ad services abroad in one recent quarter.
