Marketing Campaign worth $100 million for Nokia Ace/Lumia 900: Receiving status “Hero”

Lumia 900; Now it really seems to be an Ace for Microsoft and Nokia

Yes! in US as well as globally, Nokia is fully focused to gain back control of the smartphone industry which it was like before Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android. And just like that Microsoft is working hard to get into real smartphone world with its Windows Phone OS. There have been a lot of talks (positive and negative) about the shake of Nokia and Microsoft which has been almost a year now. The very first two Windows Phone powered devices from Nokia were the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710. Although only Lumia 710 was launched in US as well.

Following the untold sources, BetaNews recently reported that in late March, along with the launch of Nokia Ace in US, the smartphone will be promoted with a marketing campaign that will run in the neighborhood of $100 million. This is yet unclear that exactly how these $100 million will be divided up among the partners AT&T, Microsoft or Nokia.

BetaNews called it a bet on a smartphone launch – “Windows Phone partners bet $100M on Nokia Ace”

On another note BetaNews told that Nokia Ace will first launch on AT&T and will receive the status “Hero” as per the agreement between AT&T and Microsoft. BetaNews also showed some clues that the naming with the said status AT&T itself will promote the device via its advertising channels.

The Ace will launch first on AT&T, where Microsoft has reached an agreement with the carrier to give it “hero” status. This means that AT&T itself will promote the device in its advertising, through its retail channels and direct store associates to push the device within its stores.

Such a move is a first for a Windows Phone here in the United States, a place where the platform has languished behind larger competitors.

Ace’s success will likely play a significant role in later marketing plans for Windows Phone devices. One source indicated that Microsoft hopes to get carriers to “hero” another future device for the holiday season, but that will depend on sales of the Ace through the second and third quarters of this year.

As we just expressed that if there will be more to be revealed before official announcement, in fact more is yet to be revealed with the official announcement at CES 2012 which is just a week or two ahead. Wait and watch what it brings new and what it changes from the rumors.
